Meet Hannah Portell


Hannah Portell, a Colorado native, graduated in 2011 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in Sociology, as well as minors in Women and Gender Studies and American Indian Studies. During her time at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, she was a member of the rowing team.

After graduation, Hannah moved to Steamboat Springs, Colorado, where she taught children how to ski before joining the law firm Klauzer and Tremaine. Her growing interest in law and experience with domestic relations cases inspired her to attend law school.

In 2018, Hannah earned her law degree from Loyola University Chicago Law School and obtained her license to practice in Colorado, Wyoming, and Arizona. While in law school, she interned with both the Chicago Federal Defender Program and the U.S. Attorney’s Office – Northern District of Illinois. She also became a certified mediator through the Chicago Center for Conflict Resolution and worked as a law clerk with Stone, Pogrund & Korey.

After completing law school, Hannah returned to Steamboat Springs and joined the 14th Judicial District Attorney’s Office before transitioning back to family law.

Thereafter, Hannah moved to Arizona and, prior to joining LaBenz Law, Hannah worked for DNA Legal Services handling a variety of family law matters.

With experience in both criminal and family law, Hannah brings a deep passion as well as a diverse legal background to her work.
